<p>As a conference organisation that focuses on trauma and healing within racialised communities we stand together with Communities of Colour against the racist violence that has been taking place in the UK.</p>
<p>We have complied a list of mental health organisations and services for <b>People of Colour, Migrants, Refugees, Asylum Seekers and Muslim Communities </b>affected by the racist riots, rhetoric and violence in the UK.</p>

<p>We are excited to announce Dr Nicole Samuel as the winner of the new, <b>Community Minded Research Award</b>, in partnership with the <a href="https://www.bacp.co.uk/about-us/advancing-the-profession/research/awards/">British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy </a>(BACP).</p>
<p>Nicole&#8217;s award-winning research:</p>
<p><b>&#8216;Disclosing Racial Trauma in Psychological Therapies: Exploring the Experiences of Racially Minoritised People in the UK&#8217;.</b><b></b></p>
<p>Nicole can be seen here with our founder, Helen George, and Clare Symons, Head of Research at BACP, being presented with the £500.00 prize award.</p>
<p>Based on the significant findings In Nicoles&#8217; research, our founder issued a clarion call to the counselling and psychotherapy profession for their help in taking action to prevent the harm that is being caused in the therapy room when clients disclose their experiences of racism.</p>
<p><strong>Helen stated:</strong><br />
<em>&#8220;For too long now, us racially minoritised therapists have been left to do all the work &#8211; and the significant findings of Nicole’s research tells us that there is still much more work to do.<b>&#8220;</b></em><b></b></p>

			<h3>Community Minded Research Award</h3>
<h3>Saturday 19<sup>th</sup> September 2023</h3>
<p>Community Trauma Conference UK are excited to announce that we have partnered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) to offer this new Award.</p>
<p>The award winner must present their research at BACP’s annual international research conference in May 2024. They will receive £500 from Community Trauma Conference UK and a free place at the conference where they will be presented with the award.</p>
<p><strong>Eligibility</strong></p>
<p>Are you a PhD or doctoral researcher from a racialised background? Does your research address the mental health concerns or psychological trauma that directly affects people from racialised communities? Does it focus on the role of counselling and psychotherapy provision in supporting the psychological and mental health needs of people from racialised communities?</p>
<p>Racialised refers to minority ethnic, racial and cultural communities where white-majority systems have categorised them according to the colour of their skin or other cultural or religious features, and in doing so have othered and marginalised them.</p>
<p><strong>How to apply</strong></p>
<p>All relevant abstracts<b> </b>submitted to and accepted by the BACP conference peer review panel, are considered.</p>
<p>The deadline for applications for the 2024 community minded research award is midnight, Wednesday 1 November 2023.</p>
